Vice-District Governor Training
Job Description:
- Perform your duties as Vice District Governor
- Support Your District Governor
- Familiarize yourself with the duties, plans, responsibilities and properties of your District Governor
- Participate in the development of the District Budget
- Perform the duties assigned to you as Vice District Governor
- Duties defined in your District Constitution, By Laws and Policy Manual
- Duties assigned to you by your District Governor
- Actively participate in all Cabinet meetings and other District functions
- Be prepared to conduct meetings in the absence of your District Governor
- Stay in close communications with your District Governor and prepare yourself to step in as District Governor in the event that your Governor can no longer serve in the office
- Actively assist and support your District Governor and help his/her year be a success
- Prepare for Your Year as District Governor
- Study and learn the duties and responsibilities of a District Governor
- Carefully plan for your year as District Governor
- Define your plans and goals
- Continuing Projects and goals
- New projects and goals
- Set achievable goals and methods for reaching them
- Define the organization you will need to implement your plans and goals
- Carefully select your organization based on the jobs to be performed and the qualifications required for each position
- Carefully train each person in your organization. They must understand their responsibilities and what is required to make their job, and your job successful. You must also clearly define how the communications will be handled
- Write the speeches you will use as Vice District Governor and as District Governor
- Plan your year as District Governor
- District Governors Point Contest
- Cabinet meeting schedule
- New Club goals and plans
- Leadership and Membership Development plans and events
- Communicate your plans and priorities to your officers and cabinet
- Be sensitive to the work of your current District Governor and be careful not to disturb his/her term of office
- Attend meetings and conventions
- Zone Meetings
- District Cabinet Meetings and Council of Governors Meetings
- District Mid Winter Convention, MD5M Convention and Lions International Convention
- USA/Canada Leadership Forum
- Leadership Development Seminars and Workshops
Qualifications:
- Comprehensive understanding of Lions Clubs International and of his/her District
- Credibility with the Lions of the District
- Desire and ability to serve as District Governor
- Willingness and time available commit to the duties of Vice District Governor followed by District Governor
- Good organizational skills
- Good computer skills
- Effective presentation skills (i.e., public speaking, workshop presenter, etc.)
- Ability to attend zone meetings, District Meetings, the Mid-Winter Conventions and the Multiple District Convention.
- Ability to travel.
